Jane E. Levin is co-author (with Joseph B. Giacquinta and Jo Anne Bauer) of the most exhaustive study ever published on educational computing at home, Beyond Technology's Promise. Published in 1993, this book lays the foundation for understanding how computers are used in the home.
Jane Levin has been a teacher for over twenty years in the New York City Public School System. She has also been an adjunct professor at New York University, Brooklyn College, and Kingsborough Community College. In addition to classroom teaching, she has done teacher training, staff development, and curriculum writing.
Dr. Levin holds a Ph.D. in Educational Communication and Technology from New York University. Her dissertation was a qualitative study of an elementary school which was integrating computers into the curriculum. She also holds an Ed.M. in Elementary Education from Harvard University, an M.A. in English from the University of Iowa, and a B.S. in Child Development and Family Relationships from Cornell University. She is a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Pi, and the American Educational Research Association.
