Interest / Appeal
Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree was generally attractive to all our kids reviewers, but not at the near rabid level demonstrated with its predecessor, the Lion King. The difference is in the appeal of the storylines, and parallels the immense popularity of the Lion King.
Educational Value
When our older kids reviewers (six and eight) were asked what they learned from WTP, they were hard pressed to go beyond things like "bears sure do like honey." We noticed, however, that they tried really hard to follow the written words in the five songs, with some success. This was one of the few examples we have encountered in all the titles of this genre, of children taking advantage of the text provided.
Fun Level
WTP has more "click and explore" options than the Lion King, and the games are a little more robust. But most of the kids found WTP to be less captivating than several other interactive book titles, like The Tortoise and the Hare, or Just Grandma and Me.
