Fractions Software -- The Big Picture

Fractions. For some students, this is where the seeds of failure in math are sewn. For whatever reason, they have difficulty with the concept, or the mechanics, or both. SuperKids' own tips and tools for learning fractions are a popular destination for some of our visitors.

We wondered, "could software help?" SuperKids' reviewers compared two Math Software programs this month that focus on fractions. Click on the titles to see SuperKids' complete reviews.

• Decimal & Fraction Maze [for ages 8 to adult] from Great Wave Software, does an excellent job of providing sequenced problem solving practice. It does not, however, provide true instruction. Best for students who need practice to master these important mathematical skills.

• Nothin' But... The Fractions I [for ages 8 to 14] from IEPMath, actually teaches fractions using interactive tutorials, practice problems and drills. Best for kids who need help understanding and using fractions.
