Wild Western Town Screen Shot Pentium166 with 16MB and 12XCD

Description
Based on the popular Fisher Price toy, this light-weight but entertaining story/adventure is "a sure-fire little cowpoke pleaser" according to one of our parents reviewers. The action begins when Bandit Bob steals nine gold bars from the Bank and hides them throughout the town. Sheriff Sassafras and Deputy P.D. need help to recover the gold bars, and send the dastardly perpetrator to jail. The young deputy-in-training must explore the Wild Western Town, searching out secret hiding places and tackling a variety of activities along the way.

Ease of Install / Use
Wild Western Town installed without difficulty on our reviewers' test PCs. The only complaint among users that we encountered, was that movement between sections requires first returning to a main screen making it a bit slow and tedious.

Educational Value
The activities are not innovative or new, and their educational benefits are limited to computer comfort, and promotion of problem-solving and critical thinking skills. They are, however, invitingly simple, and offer plenty of creativity options in a nicely presented fashion.

Kid Appeal
Attractive animation and a tried and true theme make Wild Western Town a pleasant diversion for the young computer user. The program lacks challenge for users on the upper end of the listed age-range--as one parent of a 7 year-old expressed, "My son worked his way through the program in less than 2 hours and never returned to it." Younger reviewers found plenty to occupy their talents, however, and particularly enjoyed designing and printing their own "Wanted" posters.
