Science Software -- The Big Picture

Three new science-oriented titles. The first, Space: A Visual History of Manned Spaceflight is as much a history title as a science program. The second, Star Wars DroidWorks surprised us with the quantity and quality of basic science facts presented.

• Space: A Visual History of Manned Spaceflight [for ages 8 to adult] from Sumeria, provides and excellent introduction to the history of the US manned space flight program. Best for students interested in space exploration, and for adults who have fond memories of watching it develop.
• Star Wars DroidWorks [for ages 10 and up] from Lucas Learning, provides a mesmerizing program that requires users to learn how to apply science facts they uncover. Best for curious and tenacious lovers of Star Wars.
• Bats of North America [for ages 11 to 15] from Think Scientific, is the CD equivalent of a short textbook, with hyperlinks and nice graphics. Best for school use or supplementation of a couse on mammals.
